Claus en Kaan
Felix Claus and Kees Kaan shun the uncritical craving of newness that predominates in contemporary Dutch architectural culture. They have no désire to surprise at all coasts, preferring instead to pursue an ordinariness that is both familiar and self-evident. Claus en Kaan manage, with a mixture of common sense and inspiration, to give it a poétique slant. In their hands, the commonplace, rather than being concealed, acquires an unprecedented distinction.
